Cast Iron Pan Apple Pie

Ingredients:

1 pkg. ready pie crust in a box (2 crusts included)

½ stick butter

½ cup brown sugar

1 can apple pie filling

2 tbsp. sugar

2 tbsp. cinnamon

8 inch cast iron skillet

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Mix the 2 tbsp. sugar & 2 tbsp. cinnamon together and set aside in a separate small dish.

Melt the butter in bottom of pan. Take out 2 tbsp. of the melted butter and set aside in a separate small dish. Add the brown sugar to the melted butter in the pan. Stir until combined.

Lay one of the pie crusts on top of the butter/brown sugar mixture.

Scoop out the apple pie filling and put on top of the pie crust that’s in the pan.

Sprinkle the apple pie filling with a tablespoon of the sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Place the other pie crust on top of the apple pie filling and fold over the edges. Brush crust with the 2 tbsp. melted butter. Make 2 slits in the top of the crust to vent.

Sprinkle the top with the remaining tablespoon of the sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Bake in 400 degree oven for about 30 minutes until the edges are bubbly and the crust is golden brown.

Serve either warm or room temperature. Great with vanilla ice cream 🙂

Enjoy!
